Understanding Cow's Milk Protein Allergy

Cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) is one of the most common food allergies in babies and usually appears before one year of age. When a baby's immune system responds abnormally to the proteins found in cow's milk, CMPA causes the baby to have allergic symptoms such as problems with the skin, digestive system, and respiratory system. While symptoms can be distressing, getting the proper diagnosis from your baby's doctor as early as possible is very important. Hypoallergenic formulas like Extensive HA® or Alfamino® can be an important part of the dietary management of food allergies.
